Since we’re dealing with a rather exotic automaker, ed case McLaren has the exclusivity of allowing its client to specify as the please almost everything on their car – which can actually be sometimes tiresome since there are so many options.
Sky’s the limit for the clients (and their bank accounts) when choosing the supercar that can have everything customized from the choice of color, material, and finish to every single aspect of the interior. And then comes the MSO personalization division and adds hundreds of other choices in between. So, for those lacking the time or patience the automaker has created a simpler choice process through its recently launched five “Design Editions”. These are the work of the British brand’s own designers, each of them revolving around a different color.
There’s Design Edition 1, which combines Vermillion Red with diamond-cut, five-spoke wheels, red brake calipers, and a Stealth exhaust. The cabin features Carbon Black alcantara and Apex Red Nappa leather. And you get the picture from there. The limited series models don’t have any technical enhancement, so you still get “just” 570 horsepower (425 kilowatts) and 442 pound-feet (600 Newton meters) of torque from the 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 linked to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission sending the power to the rear wheels.
