McLaren keeping the 540C out of U.S. image

The recently unveiled McLaren 540C will not be offered in the United States, as a new report is indicating.

The second addition and also the newest one to the Sports Series made by McLaren is called the 540C and this has been officially unveiled more than a month ago. But if you have your eyes on the most affordable McLaren badged vehicle ever to have hit the market and you happen to live in the United States, we have some bad news for you because the car manufacturer has no plans of offering it on this market. However, rumor has it that Canada will receive the 540C and if you do your own math plus a trip over the northern border you may return with such a sports car.

The McLaren 540C has a total weight of 1,311 kg and this is making it up to 150 kg lighter than its closest rival, according to the carmaker. The model has a carbon fiber monocoque, aluminum body panels and it is suitable for a day-to-day riving. Some of the goodies found on it include the Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation system, premium leather upholstery and a 7-inch infotainment system. The same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine which is found across the range is also used on the 540C and this is capable of putting down 540 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is sending power to the RWD through a 7-speed transmission. The 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration takes 3.5s and top speed stands at 320 km/h (199 mph).
