A McLaren MP4-12c supercar has caught fire and burned in England after its engine got overheated.
If you think that McLaren supercars don’t have that “Italian soul”, think again, because Lamborghinis and Ferraris are famous for catching fire and now we get to see yet another British supercar go out in flames, a McLaren MP4-12C. According to the guys at Wrecked Exotics, the Italian supercar in question has caught fire after its engine got overheated. The unfortunate incident took place in London, England, and judging by the image posted above, we’re pretty sure that the driver walked away with no serious injuries.
As a quick reminder, the McLaren MP4-12C is taking its power from a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, also used on the 12C Spider and on the brand new P1 hybrid hypercar, but under a different setup. The unit is producing a total output of 592 HP at 7,000 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque, available between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm. The 0 to 62 mph sprint in the supercar takes just 3.3 seconds and top speed stands at 205 mph. McLaren says that the Corsa tire options can cut down 0.2 seconds from the 0 to 62 mph sprint.
