The McLaren MP4-12C Cam-Am Edition Racing Concept will be officially presented to the public this weekend, during the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
According to the British based automaker, the McLaren MP4-12C Cam-Am Edition Racing Concept is based on the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 race car but free from race regulations and key changes have been made to the cooling system and engine calibration. McLaren says that the MP4-12C Cam-Am Edition Racing Concept weighs just 1,200 kg and the model is still getting the 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is now developing a total output of 630 BHP.
Downforce in the McLaren MP4-12C Cam-Am Edition Racing Concept has increased by 30 percent when compared to the standard version and the 12C Cam-Am’s aero package now includes dive plane winglets, a rear diffuser, a carbon fiber front splitter, a rear which wing which is supported by polished aluminum mounts and more, including the black satin forged lightweight alloy wheels covering the Akebono braking system. The cabin of the racecar is getting a race-spec roll cage, six-point harnesses, a GT3 steering wheel and some other interesting features which will be revealed this weekend, at Pebble Beach.
