The British based automaker McLaren is planning to introduce a convertible version of the MP4-12C supercar, which will be named the Spyder.
The fact that McLaren was planning to introduce the drop-top version of the MP4-12C in the nearby future isn’t a surprise anymore but what comes as a refresher is the fact that the guys at carmagazine.co.uk have managed to capture it on camera, without any camouflage. Even if the pictures provided by the source mentioned above seem to be made using an old mobile phone, the supercar’s lines are obvious and there’s no question that the model isn’t the McLaren MP4-12C Spyder.
The convertible which will be wearing the McLaren logo on it is expected to be powered by the same engine as the coupe version, and as a reminder, the McLaren MP4-12C is coming with a 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 unit, which is developing a total output of 592 horsepower at 7.000 rpm, with a peak torque of 443 lb-ft available between 3.000 and 7.000 rpm. The 0 to 62 mph acceleration takes just 3.3 seconds and the supercar’s top speed can go up to 205 mph. Prices for the McLaren MP4-12C Coupe have been set at 231.400 USD.
