McLaren is expanding its retailer network with four new locations in North America, bringing the total number of global dealerships to 80.
The British supercar maker continues to expand its retail footprint with the setting up of four new locations in the United States. The opening of McLaren showrooms in Bergen County NJ, Boston MA, Houston TX and Palm Beach FL is an important step in the development of the brand and follows the introduction of the new Sports Series model range, which has just arrived in showrooms a few weeks ago. These new locations bring the North American McLaren retailer network to 22 units and the total number of global dealerships to 80. By comparison with the other supercar automakers, Aston Martin is counting on 37 dealerships in the United States and five in Canada, Lamborghini has 31 locations in the US and four in Canada, while Ferrari has opened so far 38 showrooms in the US and five in Canada out of its approximately 200 locations around the world.
McLaren’s retail network growth has been largely driven by the arrival of the 2016 570S Coupe, which starts at 184,900 dollars, with delivery of the first cars already beginning in December. The new showrooms will also offer models from the Super Series range, like the McLaren 650S in Coupe and Spider versions, and the newly-announced 675LT Spider.
McLaren has high hopes for its Sports Series range, which was revealed in April last year, at the New York Autoshow, with the 570S Coupe being the first car launched. This was followed by the 540C Coupe at the Shanghai Autoshow later the same month. By the time the Sports Series is complete in 2017, the range will include two further bodystyles and is expected to account for two thirds of total annual sales volumes. The company ended 2015 with a total of 1,654 cars delivered, marking another record year, and plans to increase production to 4,000 cars annually as early as 2017.
