The upcoming McLaren entry-level sports car, known internally as the P13, is now being placed into the spotlights with the help of a new report.
According to the guys from Winding Road, the McLaren P13 will be named the 500S once it will become available for order and it will be competing against models such as the upcoming Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, the Porsche 911 Turbo or the Nissan GT-R. The new sports car will be getting the monocell carbon fiber monocoque and the dashboard / center console being in the center piece of the interior design, which will be similar to the one from its larger brother, the recently unveiled 650S.
The McLaren 500S will be smaller, lighter, cheaper and less powerful than the 650S but its styling tweaks are expected to be inspired by the already available supercar and also by the hybrid P1. At its heart, there will be a 3.8 liter twin turbo engine, which will be detuned, and if in the 650S it is good for 650 HP, in the 500S, the unit will be producing approximately 490 HP. This may seem less than what the competition has to offer, but the new model will be lighter, so it should make up for it.
