The British based automaker McLaren is getting ready to introduce a direct rival for the Porsche 911 Turbo, which will be named the P13.
The Porsche 911 Turbo’s supremacy is getting ready to come to an end as one of its rivals is being prepared as we speak. The model in question will be produced by McLaren and it will be known as the P13, just like the 918 Spyder’s rival is the P1. The McLaren P13 will get a look similar to the one of the P1 hybrid supercar, with boomerang headlights, a ventilated hood and some other tweaks.
The model in question will also get the same carbon fiber monocoque as the MP4-12C, 12C Spider and P1, but it will have a shorter wheelbase and a reduced weight, which will reflect its position as an entry-level vehicle. The total weight of the supercar will stand at less than 1,434 kg (3,161 lbs) and power should come from the same 3.8 liter V8 engine, which will produce approximately 450 HP (335 kW). The unit will be mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint should take less than 4 seconds and top speed should stand at 322 km/h (200 mph). Prices for the model will start at 120,000 GBP and it will go on sale in 2015.
