The new entry-level supercar in McLaren’s lineup, the P13, will be powered by a 3.8 liter V8 twin turbocharged engine.
The development of a new entry-level supercar by McLaren, which will battle models like the high-end Porsche 911 or the Audi R8, is no longer a secret for anyone who is closely reading the automotive news and it’s not even being denied by the carmaker. Our spy photographers have managed to catch the model in question on camera several times but its design currently remains unknown as the supercar was made to look like an MP4-12C vehicle.
According to the guys at Autocar, the new McLaren P13 will come with a 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine under its hood, again used on the MP4-12C, 12C Spider and also on the P1, under a different form, which is good for 444 HP. Prices for the new supercar will stand approximately at 120,000 GBP and McLaren is planning to sell 4,000 units annually from 2015. The design of the McLaren P13 is said to be influenced by the new P1. The new British supercar will probably be unveiled during the 2014 Paris Motor Show, in autumn. Additional details on the model are limited for the moment.
