McLaren will be pulling the wraps off its newest and cheapest sports car, the Sports Series, next year, during the 2015 New York Auto Show.
After being teased a couple of times and also captured on camera by our spy photographers, the McLaren Sports Series is being highlighted once more, this time with the help of a report. According to the guys from cnbc.com, the McLaren Sports Series will be officially presented to the public next year, in April, during the 2015 New York Auto Show, and the company is apparently planning on selling 2,000 units of the new sports car by 2016.
The new McLaren Sport Series will be an entry-level model, slotting below the 650S in terms of power, price and also size. However, it will be very similar in design to its larger brother and even to the range-topping P1 hybrid supercar. The new model will be inheriting the carbon fiber composite chassis and also the already popular 3.8 liter V8 twin turbo engine, which will be detuned. The Sport Series is believed to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in approximately 4 seconds. More details on it are limited at this time.
