McLaren Sports Series going to New York, to be named the 570S image

McLaren’s entry-level sports car will be called the 570S and it will be officially presented to the public next month, during the 2015 New York Auto Show.

The newest model to wear the McLaren badges all over its body is the entry-level sports car, currently known as the Sports Series. According to a recent report, the model in question will be wearing a different name once it will be ready for the market and this will be the 570S. The vehicle will be positioned lower in the range than the 650S and it will be taking on vehicles such as the Porsche 911, the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, the Mercedes-AMG GT and so on.

At the time of its launch, the sports car will be offered with a solid fixed roof but in the near future, a Spider version is also planned. Rumor has it that a grand tourer derivative will be introduced too, which will be the most practical version, providing more space in the boot. Besides these, a more hardcore variant is also planned and we might also expect a Long Tail, later on.

The new McLaren 570S will be making use of the same 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine from its larger brothers, the 650S and the P1 hypercar, which will be detuned and will offer around 570 HP (419 kW). This will be mid-mounted and power will be sent to the rear wheels, through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration should stand at less than 4 seconds and top speed will be around 290 km/h (180 mph). Prices for the model should begin at 180,000 USD.
