McLaren just opened the order books for its new Sports Series across the Old Continent.
The entry-level McLaren 540C can now be yours from 126,000 euros while for the more powerful 570S, customers will have to pay 143,250 euros. Deliveries will begin by the end of the year for the 570S while the first batch of units of the 540C will arrive with their new owners in the second quarter of 2016. The introduction of the Sports Series is making McLaren a more affordable brand but don’t expect cheaper models in the future as this is not a part of the British based brand’s plan.
The McLaren 540C has a subtly revised aerodynamic package, carbon fiber monocoque, aluminum body panels and retuned dampers for day-to-day driving. The 7-inch infotainment system, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, premium leather upholstery and several other goodies are available for it. Power is coming from the 3.8 liter twin turbo V8 engine, producing 533 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, connected to a 7-speed transmission. This needs 3.5s to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to 320 km/h (199 mph). The McLaren 570S on the other hand is making use of the same 3.8l twin turbo V8 engine, but this is rated at 564 HP (419 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. It needs 3.2s to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and it can go up to 328 km/h (204 mph). Standard features include the 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive dampers and more.
