McLaren will be introducing the new Sports Series entry-level model in no less than two versions, the “C” and the more powerful “S”.
The McLaren Sports Series is getting closer and closer to being officially revealed as this will be happening at the 2014 New York Auto Show, next month, and this will put a stop to rumors, spy shots and teasers. According to the company’s CEO, Mike Flewitt, the brand new Sports Series will be offered in an entry-level C version and in a high performance S variant. The sports car will be eventually introduced in a Long Tail version too, taking inspiration from the 675LT which was recently unveiled in Geneva.
The brand new McLaren Sports Series will be an entry-level sports car which will slot below the current 650S. The model in question will be aiming towards rivals such as the Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 and rumor has it that it might be called the P13 one it will be officially unveiled. This will be taking its power from the same familiar 3.8 liter twin turbo engine, the same one used on the 650S, on the P1 hypercar and even on the long gone MP4-12C. The unit will be producing a total output of more than 500 HP which should be enough to allow it to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in 4 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). Prices for this should begin at 180,000 USD.
