McLaren has recently pulled the wraps off its latest creation, the X-1 Concept, during this weekend at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
After announcing its debut at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance just a few days before writing this article, the McLaren X-1 Concept is being placed into the spotlights once more, this time by the British based automaker that has finally pulled the wraps off the one-off model, revealing some images with it and releasing some official details.
“One of our clients who already owned a McLaren F1, a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and now a 12C, wanted a unique car. The conversation began with our Executive Chairman Ron Dennis almost three years ago – before the 12C was even launched. The client wanted a machine that had all the capability of the 12C but wrapped in a unique body that reflected his needs and personality”, said the MSO Program Director, Paul MacKenzie.
As you can see from the images posted below this article, the McLaren X-1 Concept is coming with a futuristic styling and, in the same time, with some retro inspired touches. Its highlights include the unique headlights and taillights, the carbon fiber body panels, the solid aluminum trim which is covering the rear wheels and some custom rims. In the cabin, the model is getting Harissa Red Nappa leather upholstery, titanium-weave carbon fiber trim and other “goodies”. The 1,400 kg (3,086 lbs) car is sharing most of its mechanical components with the 12C, including the 616 HP twin-turbo engine.
