The German based automaker Audi has recently pulled the wraps off its latest creation, in terms of Motorsport, the 2014 R18 e-tron Quattro LMP1.
An updated version of the multiple race-winning R18 e-tron Quattro LMP1 has been officially unveiled by the German based automaker Audi’s motorsport division, offering us what may be called a “preview” into the 2014 Hours of Le Mans. The carmaker has already began testing the new race car but it has been kept under the covers for now, until this week, when it should hit Sebring, Florida, for the first time in an official way.
According to the car manufacturer, the 2014 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro LMP1 race car tests will be focused on coordinating the complex hybrid drive system and also on achieving a high mileage. Rumors are saying that the updated race car should get a powerful TDI engine under its hood, which will be backing up the flywheel-based electric drive system. The development of the racer started in 2012 but the first rollout took place in autumn, 2013. Additional details on the 2014 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro LMP1, including its performance, are currently limited.
