The North American based automaker Chevrolet has recently released the first images and details with the 2014 Spark EV, ahead of the model’s public debut at the L.A. Auto Show this month.
After being announced for the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV comes to life earlier than expected, with the carmaker releasing the first details and images with the “green” model. According to the car manufacturer, the 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV is powered by an electric motor which is producing a total output of 130 HP (100 kW) and it has a peak torque of 400 lb-ft (542 Nm). This will allow the small vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 8 seconds.
“When our team set out to develop the propulsion system for Spark EV, we knew we had to provide surprising fun-to-drive acceleration with maximum efficiency”, said Chuck Russell, the Spark EV chief engineer.
The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV is getting a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which can be charged in up to seven hours from a standard 240V outlet. The newest model in Chevrolet’s lineup will arrive in dealerships across California next summer, as the carmaker is saying. Additional details on the 2014 Spark EV will be announced at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, on the 28th of November.
