MINI has increased its lineup with the more practical 5-door body style of its hatchback, which has been officially unveiled, in a premiere.
The 2015 MINI 5-door hatchback has received a 72 mm elongated wheelbase, to a total of 2,567 mm, which is basically transmitted to the rear legroom, which has increased by 72 mm, while the headroom is now 15 mm more spacious. The vehicle in question is also providing 61 mm of additional interior width at elbow height while the trunk has a total capacity of 278 liters, making it 67 liters more spacious than its three-door body style. With the 60:40 rear backrest folded, the cargo increases to 941 liters.
In terms of design, the 2015 MINI 5-door hatchback looks pretty much the same as the regular version but this was also the British based automaker’s main objective, to maintain the look of the original model. There is a catch with this body style because entering the back seats seems to be quite difficult because the rear doors appear to have a short length, which may become a real problem for taller people, or for those of you who enjoy fast foods too much.
As far as the engine lineup goes, the 2015 MINI 5-door hatchback is coming with the same units as its three-door brother, which basically means the 1.5 liter three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo unit, with its 136 HP and 22 Nm of torque, the 1.5 liter three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel with 116 HP and 270 Nm of torque, the 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo diesel with 170 HP and 360 Nm of torque and the 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo producing 192 HP and 280 Nm of torque. No pricing details have been announced yet.
