The brand new Audi A3 Cabrio has been officially unveiled ahead of its public debut scheduled for tomorrow, during the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Audi A3 Cabrio has managed to shed 50 kg (110 lbs) from its weight, compared to the model it’s replacing, and its size has increased from 4.24 meters to 4.42 meters in length and from 1.77 meters to 1.79 meters in width. The wheelbase has been also stretched from 2.58 meters to 2.60 meters and the height has been reduced by 15 mm to 1.41 meters. The model has been fitted with a new soft cloth top, which can be opened and closed in less than 18 seconds, at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph).
Audi is also offering an “acoustic top”, for some extra money, which is coming with a thicker inner foam layer which is meant to reduce the interior noise. As for the engine lineup, the new Audi A3 Cabrio will get the 140 HP (103 kW) 1.4 TFSI, the 180 HP (132 kW) 1.8 TFSI and the 2.0 TDI with 150 HP (110 kW). Later on, the 1.6 TDI with 110 HP (81 kW) and the 2.0 TFSI with 300 HP (221 kW) in the S3 Cabrio, will also become available, helping the model sprint form 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. Prices for the Audi A3 Cabrio will start at 31,700 EUR.
