Lada has just unveiled a new generation of the Kalina model, a small B-segment car, which will go on sale in Russia over the following weeks.
Lada’s newest creation is named the Kalina and the model has just been unveiled by the Russian based automaker. The new vehicle was developed with the help of the Renault-Nissan engineers, the company which is the co-owner of AvtoVAZ, Lada’s “mother”. Visually speaking, the new Lada Kalina seems to be quite interesting but even if it won’t splash any waves across the Old Continent, the model is very important to the Russian auto market, where it will also go on sale this year.
The new Lada Kalina is powered by a 1.6 liter engine, which is available in three versions, ranging from 87 HP and 106 HP. The unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission but the model has an optional four-speed automatic which can be mounted on higher grades. The Lada Kalina will be used to revive Nissan’s Datsun brand and a modified version of the model will wear the Datsun logos all over its body, for the first time in 30 years. The vehicle in question will be launched in emerging markets.
