Porsche will unveil the new Macan SUV somewhere in 2013. And thanks to Autobild Germany we have some images showing the upcoming little SUV from Porsche. The Audi Q5-based crossover will launch as a four door, but a two-door version is also likely.
The powertrains also come from Audi and include a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter V-6 producing about 240 hp and 290 hp, respectively. In addition, there’s a Macan Turbo S in the works according to Automobile Magazine.
It features Porsche’s own heavily tweaked 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 rated at 350hp.
As expected – also planned is a Macan Hybrid, fitted with a 230-hp four-cylinder complemented by a 50-hp electric engine.
COMPETITION: Audi Q5, BMW X3, Infiniti EX35, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Mercedes-Benz GLK.
ESTIMATED ARRIVAL AND PRICE: On sale in 2013, starting at $45,000.
Look for the Macan to vie with the Cayenne in terms of volume and pricing–the factory in Leipzig where it’ll be made is being expanded into 500-million-euro production plant with a body assembly line and paint shop.
Yes – the investment is one of the biggest building projects in Porsche’s corporate history. Production starts in 2013.
