The Japanese based automaker Nissan has pulled the wraps off its latest creation in terms of racing and motorsport, the new Altima supercar.
“This is a proud day for Nissan and a significant occasion for the sport of V8 Supercars. Unveiling our Nissan Altima V8 Supercar, the first new V8 Supercar model in two decades, brings Nissan’s special brand of ‘Innovation and Excitement’ to the V8 Supercars Championship”, said William F Peffer Jr., the Nissan Australia Managing Director and CEO.
According to the car manufacturer, the new Nissan Altima supercar in question will be used next year in the Australian Supercars Championship. The model is powered by a race tuned version of the company’s VK56 V8 engine, the same one found under the hood of other models like the Nissan Titan, Pathfinder or Armada, or even the Infiniti QX.
The displacement of the engine has been reduced from 5.6 liters to “just” 5.0 liters, but the power has increased. The carmaker didn’t announce any extra performance details or specifications on the Nissan Altima supercar for obvious reasons, but the model can be spotted quite easily, thanks to its red and black finish with the Nissan, Altima and Nismo logos on its body.
