Ariel Motors has officially pulled the wraps off its newest creation, a one-off police car, based on the popular Atom model, which is coming with all the necessary tweaks to help fight crime.
According to the car manufacturer, the brand new Ariel Atom police car is a one-off model, which has been created with the help of Avon and Somerset Constabulary. This has been created for the Safer Rider campaign, which is promoting motorcycle safety.
“We’re just about to launch an all new Ariel motorcycle and we want our bikes and customers to be as safe as they possibly can be as well, so this message is important to us. There’s always one certain loser in a motorcycle collision and that’s the motorcyclist”, said the company’s official, Simon Saunders.
The one-off Ariel Atom police car has been named the Atom PL and it’s actually based on the Atom 3.5R. The vehicle in question has received the police livery, the siren and the emergency lights, amongst some other features. Power is being provided by a 2.0 liter engine, made by Honda, which is providing, in this case, a total output of 350 HP (261 kW). This translates into a 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint made in 2.5 seconds.
