The Memorial Day has become in the last years an important period for car sales and so it is expected for this year.
Customers expect special promotions, troche incentives and rebates, advice at least at some of the brands. After strong car sales in the first quarter of 2012, May is expected to see a 30% increase over the same period last year. The strong demand so far made automakers such as Toyota, Hyundai and Chrysler hire more workers and add extra shifts to manufacture more vehicles.
“Until recently, the hype surrounding Memorial Day sales was met with little more than average sales volume,” says Edmunds.com Senior Analyst Jessica Caldwell. “But Memorial Day’s performance over the last two years – combined with strong momentum in the new car market this year – has the auto industry feeling especially optimistic going into this holiday weekend.”
Toyota, which managed to recover after last year’s tsunami and earthquake, expects sales to double compared with the same period last year, Honda will also see a nearly 50% increase in May and Chrysler will continue its comeback under Fiat’s leadership. Autobarn Volkswagen of Evanston has already posted a 20% discount on any service repair and regular maintenance and the Autobarn Volkswagen of Evanston offers a financial promotion for the Memorial Day.
