The designers over at the Nissan Design Estúdio Rio in Brazil have clearly been let loose on this one, as they conceived a rather bespoke image for this new version of the March – or the Micra in other markets.
Taking the wraps off at the São Paulo International Motor Show, the Midnight Edition brings the little hatchback to a unique position inside its segment thanks to the huge intake design used for the front end. Nissan says nothing about any powertrain upgrades, so this wide-mouthed image is most likely all show and no go. The massive intake is somethign you won’t forget soon if you run into it in traffic, especially if the owner also decides to specify this bright red shade.
The designers also used contrasting black paint for the roof, pillars, mirrors, and foglight trim. There are also little dots of color marking the transition between the two hues – reminding us of the BMW i8 and i3 CrossFade concepts presented by the Bavarian brand in Europe during the Paris Motor Show. The Nissan March Midnight Edition seems to be a one-off job, mostly designed to attract viewers to the stand – and maybe the Japanese automaker will also inform them of the arrival of the new generation Micra/March starting next year.
