Recently Mercedes-Benz announced its new plant in Kecskemét, Hungary will produce a compact, coupe-like four-door car that is essentially a smaller CLS-Class, called the CLA-Class.

The CLA-Class will be built at the Kecskemét factory in Hungary together with the B-Class and will make its debut as a concept next month at the Beijing Motor Show. The new model will resemble the CLS-Class, but in a smaller version. The CLS-Class was launched in 2004 and met an immediate success with its four-door cars with swoopy, coupe-like rooflines. The difference between CLS and CLC/CLA compact car is the fact that the last one will be built on the new Mercedes Front Architecture (MFA) chassis design used by both the A-Class and B-Class compacts.

Mercedes invested € 800million to build the plant were it will be hiring 500 more workers. The company already received 100,000 orders for the new B-Class and the CLA will reportedly go on sale before the end of this year. Besides the A, B and CLA-Class, the company also plans to build a compact crossover on the MFA platform, to be sold in the U.S. market some time in the future.
