The high-performance division of Daimler, Mercedes-AMG, has recently revealed it plans to take the wraps off the C63 Cabriolet, with the worldwide public premiere taking place very soon, during the New York International Auto Show.
We just got treated earlier this month during the Geneva Motor Show to the regular C Class Cabriolet roster and now Mercedes is hurrying up to present an even more powerful iteration of the class, sitting above the Mercedes-AMG V6 powered C43. Now the company has announced it would feature the world premiere of the beefier 4.0-liter V8 engine, in C63 guise, during the New York event. The model has already been spied and pretty much surprises are out of the question since we already know how the C 63 Coupe looks like. Either way, just like the coupe brethren the soft-top cabriolet will wear two guises – the “regular” will be packing 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque and the flagship version in the C63 S will be delivering 503 hp and 516 lb-ft.
There are no performance specifications available yet, though until Wednesday we don’t need to wait too long, but we can still speculate: the run o 62 mph (100 km/h) should take about four seconds since the coupe brethren does it in 3.9 seconds. Additionally, the top speed will remain limited to 155 mph (250 km/h) and will be lifted to about 170 – 180 mph once the optional AMG Driver’s Package is selected.
