The newest flagship model made by the 3-pointed star will arrive in a new market soon: India.
Indians will be able to order the new Mercedes-AMG GT soon. The model has been announced for a local launch recently by the car manufacturer and it should arrive in the Asian country by the end of this year. Besides the sports car, the company will also launch no less than 14 models this year in India and it will also expand the production capacity at the Chakhan facility to 20,000 units annually.
“With some of the most awaited products in the pipeline for the remaining two quarters, including the much awaited AMG GT, Mercedes-Benz is all set for another year of strong growth”, said the MD and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, Eberhard Kern.
The Mercedes-AMG GT is the successor of the SLS AMG. The model is smaller, lighter and cheaper but it is making use of a brand new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine, which has been also adopted by the C63 AMG. This is available in two stages of tune, on the AMG GT and the AMG GT S, with either 460 HP (340 kW) & 600 Nm (440 lb-ft) of torque or 503 HP (375 kW) & 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. The entry-level variant needs 4.0 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and the other one can do it in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 310 km/h (190 mph).
