A new set of images with the newest sports car produced by Mercedes, the AMG GT, has been recently released by the car manufacturer.
Mercedes knows how to sell its new products and in between announcing new stuff found on the luxurious Maybach S-Class and giving us more images and videos with the spiritual successor of the SLS AMG, the company has chosen the last one for promoting the model. The Mercedes AMG GT is based on the same aluminum chassis as its predecessor, but this has been shortened in order to make the model more accessible.
Become cheaper also meant losing some of its features, like the impressive engine found on the SLS AMG, in favor of the newly developed one. The unit has 4.0 liters in displacement and a V8 configuration, with twin turbos. Mercedes is offering the AMG GT in two versions, the regular one, which is producing a total output 462 HP (339 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque, and the more powerful one, the AMG GT S, with its 510 HP (375 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.
This may be less than the 6.2 liter V8 DOHC unit found on the SLS, with its 563 HP (420 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft), or the 622 HP (464 kW) from the SLS AMG Black Series, but it is placing the AMG GT against models such as the Porsche 911 or the Jaguar F-Type. Prices on its local market, Germany, have been set from 115,430 euros.
