The Mercedes-AMG performance unit of the German automaker has decided that the best way to celebrate taking over the Formula One world this year – both constructors’ and drivers’ championships – is to have a special A45 model.
The Mercedes-AMG A45 has been fitted with an exterior trim mirroring the F1 W06 Hybrid car – petrol green and black amenities – but also a larger front splitter, unique flics, as well as a rear-housed roof spoiler. Buyers will also get the chance to make a personal choice – the model can be had in polar silver metallic, designo mountain grey magno, or mountain grey metallic. Meanwhile the alloys are a different situation, with only one option: 19-inch cross-spoke titanium grey with petrol green rim flange. The company added the special series, going by the full name of Mercedes-AMG A45 PETRONAS 2015 World Champion Edition will also receive the AMG Exclusive Package, AMG DYNAMIC Plus Package, Night Package. Inside the cabin we found AMG Performance seats in leather/DINAMICA, a Performance steering wheel with DINAMICA microfiber and petrol green stitching – the latter has also been used on the dashboard, armrests, or the air vent surrounds.
Unfortunately, besides the exterior and interior amenities you will find the engine untouched – it still uses the standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline mill churning out 381 PS (280 kW) and 475 Nm (351 lb-ft) of torque, with powered delivered to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system via the well-known seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The latter does feature faster gear shifts following the rollout of the facelift across the A45 range and will suffice to handle the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 4.2 seconds. Mercedes is already showcasing the A45 PETRONAS 2015 World Champion Edition the coming weekend at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Yas Marina, adding that prices are going from 65,402.40 euros in Germany, with deliveries taking place between January and May of next year.
