Mercedes has officially pulled the wraps off the new Sprinter AMG 63 S on April Fool’s Day.
A high-performance van has been officially unveiled over the web by the German based automaker Mercedes-Benz. The model in question is called the Sprinter AMG 63 S and, considering the fact that it has been presented on the 1st of April, something is telling us that this may be the carmaker’s way of pranking the automotive media. According to the company, the model in question has been designed to haul more than just cargo and it has been based on the Sprinter Kombi.
The new Mercedes-AMG Sprinter 63 S is getting an aggressive design for the front fascia, with the single bar grille, the sporty lower air intake, the rear diffuser flanked by a four-tailpipe exhaust system, the attractive wheel design and several other tweaks which should put some distance between it and the standard models. The carmaker is stating that under the hood of the high-performance van, the same 4.0 liter V8 twin turbo engine found on the AMG GT sports car and on the C63 AMG mid-sized vehicle can be found. This is capable of producing a total output of 503 HP (375 kW) and 698 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. No performance details have been released so far but that doesn’t mean that you cannot check it out in the two images posted below.
