Mercedes-Benz has introduced its new hot hatch, the A45 AMG, to Australia, where the cheapest version of the model will set you back for 74,900 AUD.
The new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is less than half the cost of the previously most affordable AMG car, the C63 AMG sedan, which costs 154,900 AUD, while the hot hatch is good for 74,900 AUD. The new A45 AMG is rivaling the Audi S3 and the BMW M135i, and it’s aimed to younger car buyers.
“Clearly [the A45 customer is] younger than your typical AMG buyer. Not 25 years old, but 30 to 35 year olds. They’re probably still paying rent or sharing, or uni grads, or someone who’s had five years at an accounting firm”, said the Mercedes-Benz Australia general manager, Richard Emery.
The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG has been officially introduced just earlier this year. the model in question is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, which is good for 360 HP (256 kW) at 6,000 rpm and it has a peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), available between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm. Power is sent to the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system through an AMG Speed Shift DCT seven-speed sports transmission. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 4.6 seconds and top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.
