Mercedes-Benz has recently pulled the wraps off a virtual concept car, destined for the Gran Turismo franchise, the so-called AMG Vision Gran Turismo.
The model in question will only become available in the virtual world because it won’t be seen on public roads. However, the German based automaker has built a 1:1 scale model for the opening of the Research & Development Center in Sunnyvale, California, U.S.
“By virtue of its proportions and expressive appearance, the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo embodies the brand’s defining design philosophy of sensuous purity in a unique way. The design of this concept car reflects to extreme effect the perfect symbiosis between emotional, sensuous contours and
intelligently presented high tech”, said the VP of Daimler AG Design, Gorden Wagener.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is taking its power, in the virtual world, from a V8 engine, developed by AMG, producing a total output of 577 HP (430 kW) and 799 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The 1,384 kg (3,053 lbs) weighing car has ceramic composite brakes at the rear and a loud exhaust system. The cabin of the model has been inspired by an F1 cockpit and it has red integral sport seats, a floating center display, a racing steering wheel and some other tweaks. The Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is a front-engined vehicle with rear-wheel drive and gullwing doors and it will become available as download content only for GranTurismo 6, which will come out on the 6th of December for PlayStation 3.
