Euro NCAP has awarded the small and elegant four-door coupe Mercedes-Benz CLA with a 5-star safety rating during the latest crash test session.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA represents the company’s answer to a new era where vehicles with rear-wheel drive and massive engines have no place and the vehicle has managed to attract a lot of attention once again, this time with the help of Euro NCAP. The safety specialists from the Old Continent have awarded the CLA with a 5-star safety rating, with 91 percent in Adult Occupant, 75 percent in Child Occupant, 74 percent in Pedestrian and 81 percent in the Safety Assist categories.
The Adult Occupant protection has managed to score a total of 33 points, with Adequate protection to the chest in the frontal impact test of the driver and an Adequate protection to the right leg of the passenger, a Marginal protection to the chest in the Side Impact Pole and Good protection in other body areas in the same Frontal Impact test as well as in the Side Impact Car, Side Impact Pole and Rear Impact. In the Child Occupant safety, a total of 37 points were scored, while in the Pedestrian Safety, the front sides of the bonnet and some parts of the windshield provided a Poor protection. In the Safety Assist, the CLA scored a total of 7 points. The car tested was a CLA200 Urban, weighing 1,430 kg.
