Mercedes-Benz has announced the introduction of an improved engine on the range-topping versions of the CLA and the GLA.
After we have seen the facelifted version of the A-Class just a few days ago, time has come for the German based automaker to slightly update the CLA45 AMG and the GLA45 AMG too. Don’t expect any visual tweaks because the elegant four-door coupe / five-door and compact crossover will be offered with the same looks as before as we are currently talking about the updated engine found on the newly unveiled hot hatch.
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG has become more powerful than the Audi RS3 Sportback with the addition of its tweaked unit which is still offered with the same 2.0 liter displacement and the same four cylinders. However, the total output has been increased to an impressive 381 HP (280 kW) and 475 Nm (351 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to these figures, the hot hatch needs just 4.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill, meaning 0.4 seconds faster than before. The average fuel consumption in it stands at 6.9 liters / 100km and the CO2 emissions stop at 162 g/km. The current unit is rated at 360 HP and 450 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h acceleration will be improved in the CLA45 AMG and the GLA45 AMG too but top speed will remain the same. Other mechanical tweaks will also be made to the two vehicles and these will include the updated 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the front differential.
