The German based automaker is getting closer and closer to developing a rival for the new BMW M135i sedan, which will be named the CLA45 AMG, and it will be based on the same flexible platform for the new A-Class and B-Class. The model will get the same sloping roof line as the CLS and it’s basically considered a smaller version of the four-door coupe.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will be powered by the same engine found in the all-new A45 AMG, the 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which is producing a total output of 354 HP and it has a peak torque of 450 Nm. The unit will probably be mated to the same seven-speed automatic dual clutch transmission, which is similar to the one used on the SLS AMG supercar. In the A45 AMG, the gearbox is sending power to the Haldex all-wheel drive system. Additional details on the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG will be announced on the 28th of November, during the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show, where the model will make its public debut.
