The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has dominated the World Car of the Year awards after managing to take the gold medal home in four categories.
Mercedes-Benz is on a wave these days at the German car brand has dominated the World Car of the Year awards. The company has managed to win the prestigious 2015 World Car of the Year, with the new generation of the C-Class, which managed to beat the Volkswagen Passat and the Ford Mustang. The wins list hasn’t stopped here for the brand as it managed to win the World Luxury Car of the Year award with the S-Class Coupe while the AMG GT has been named the World Performance Car of the Year.
“The C-Class is a best seller that has always been a trendsetter in the premium medium-size category. This is true for the new C-Class as well. It comes to the starting line with qualities usually reserved for higher-class automobiles – ecologically, technically and also with regard to comfort and driving pleasure. It embodies what we understand modern automotive luxury made by Mercedes-Benz to be and has all the prerequisites to be a huge success. Accordingly we are extremely delighted of winning the honor of WORLD CAR OF THE YEAR”, said Dieter Zetsche, the Daimler AG board of management chairman and the head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
If you though that the long string of wins for Mercedes-Benz has stopped here, think again, because the last category which has been won by a Mercedes car is the World Green Car of the Year. The winner here was the S550 Plug-in Hybrid which managed to beat what everyone was already announcing as the winner, the impressive BMW i8. Last but not least, the World Car Design of the Year has been won by the Citroen C4 Cactus.
