Mercedes-Benz has released some new details and a lot of images with the upcoming Future Truck 2025, which should revolutionize the motorways.
The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to revolutionize the motorways with its Future Truck 2025. The model in question has LEDs, which begin to illuminate its front fascia and headlights when the engine is started, along with an orange flashing pattern, which will warn other traffic participants on the truck’s intentions. When the vehicle is engaging the autonomous mode, the lights turn blue and when it is driven manually, the lights will be white.
The cabin of the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 is quite revolutionary too and the layout of natural materials is creating a relaxing environment. The driver’s seat can be reclined and turn by 45 degrees for a more comfortable position when using the removable tablet, according to the company. The model is also equipped with radar sensors and camera technology which is allowing an autonomous driving and the system, called the Highway Pilot, is similar to the autopilot on an aircraft.
The stereo camera can scan the road 100 meters up ahead, 45 degrees horizontally and 27 degrees vertically, being capable of identifying single lane or two-lane roads, moving objects, stationary objects, pedestrians and others. The camera is found above the instrument panel support, behind the windscreen. The vehicle will be shown as a prototype for the moment and it has been actually built and tested this summer at speeds up to 80 km/h (50 mph) in Germany.
