Mercedes-Benz G Class interior revealed with revolutionary looks image

The Geländewagen is coming at the point in time when it’s time for an all-new generation – and this certainly doesn’t happen as often as with regular cars, so it’s a true milestone for the model.

The 2018 Mercedes G Class (model year 2019 for America), is officially coming out of the shadows next January during the North American International Auto Show. Just like it was the case with the all-new Jeep Wrangler – not a competitor, but a brother in terms of awesomeness and legendary heritage – everyone expects the G Class to look basically the same on the outside, with a truly evolutionary design that will only instill some modern cues to the fabled boxy design. But as Mercedes itself has officially revealed online, when moving inside everyone will notice the revolution that took place there.

Noticeably, this is the exact same design that leaked not long ago – and shows how the G Class has finally joined the modern age. In its most prestigious trims, the SUV will sport the exact same design as seen on the E and S Class models, with two 12.3-inch high-resolution screens – one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment area. Some G models will also sport classic gauges for the speedometer and tachometer, with a smaller screen in between, and a singular 12.3-inch display on the center stack. There are also touch-sensitive Touch Controls on the steering wheel complete with swiping motions, but that doesn’t detract from the luxurious appearance the model has been known for some time.

Blending an incredible off-road prowess with luxury has always been a strong case for the modern G models – and Mercedes is taking things up a notch. The standard version comes with authentic open-pore wood trim and there’s also generous use of high-quality metal or carbon fibre trim, along with leather seats. There are also creature comfort enhancements – numerous new storage areas, an optional wireless charging point, a Burmester surround sound system, the Active Multicontour Seat package along with two exclusive equipment packages.
