Following the recent rumors that Mercedes-Benz is considering a rival for the Range Rover Evoque cabrio one of the digital artists out there has already put the report to rest by presenting the possible GLC Convertible.

The render doesn’t make the GLC Convertible really appealing but it can go to some length towards showcasing how the GLC compact sport utility vehicle would look with its roof chopped. We have here a “classic” two-door body conversion and a quirky design since we’re starting off from a crossover. We can see a rather large rear end that at least looks capable enough to engulf the power retractable soft top and still leave some room for the lady’s swimming gear. Other changes to the body look to have been kept to a minimum and as such we imagine the rest of regular credentials of the model would remain here as well.

This means the possible GLC Convertible would get the same engine range as the GLC Coupe – skipping the less powerful versions that can be found on the standard GLC – and topping out with the biturbo 3.0-liter V6 in the AMG 43 guise that brings to the table 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. Daimler executive Michael Kelz commented he is a fan of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible and buyers are looking increasingly interested in acquiring such oddities. The thing is the manager also noted the GLC Convertible would only happen if another model in the range is axed, so chances of seeing it are actually pretty slim to none.
