The German automaker knows its top SUV offerings – the G and GLS Class – have started showing their age, so for the latter they are preparing the introduction of the new Grand Edition with a raft of exterior and interior packages.
The new GLS Grand Edition rides on 20-inch alloy wheels featuring 10-spoke design, black finish and even a high-sheen treatment. More than one paint is available for the new limited series and Mercedes is also plastering badges on the front fenders so anyone knows the owner wasn’t just bragging when he said this is no ordinary GLS. The exterior pack alone costs €2,300 in Germany. The GLS Grand comes with even more perks inside, where the huge SIV is treated to a stylish porcelain / espresso brown theme available exclusively on the Grand Edition, complete with nappa leather-wrapped seats featuring a custom diamond quilting, along with brown seams and what Mercedes calls a Budapest-design piping.
More nappa leather is present on the upper section of the dashboard and the Grand Edition also features an exclusive open-pore trim with light stripes that blend nicely with the velour floor mats finished in espresso brown – go for the interior package alone and you’ll shell out a cool €5,950. Orders can be placed on the complete GLS Grand Edition in the 350d and 400 six-cylinder flavors, or even the GLS 500 with V8 oomph and all of them have standard all-wheel drive.
