Mercedes-Benz might be planning on developing a direct competitor for the BMW 3-Series GT, as some sources within the company are stating.
The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been unveiled not too long ago and, for the moment, the model is only offered in a single body style, four-door sedan. Our spy photographers have managed to catch it on camera in an Estate form and rumors on a convertible have been around for quite some time now. Modifications made to the model will not stop here because the vehicle in question is also believed to get a competitor for the BMW 3-Series GT.
When asked in an official e-mail about such a model, the carmaker’s representative declined to provide any details on the subject but he didn’t deny, or confirm, such a vehicle. Some sources within the company are stating that a direct competitor for the 3-Series GT is in the pipeline, but it remains uncertain whether it will catch the production line. If it will indeed make its way onto the market, than the new vehicle will share the same platform, components and engine lineup with the already available versions of the new C-Class generation.
