An updated version of the Mercedes-Benz MLE has been caught on camera while it was being tested out on the famous German track, the Nurburgring.
Formerly known as the ML or the M-Class, the MLE is getting ready to receive a facelift as our spy photographers have managed to capture such a prototype in action, on the famous German track, the Nurburgring. The new MLE name will hint to its E-Class based roots and considering the fact that BMW is planning an X7, this might be the first step Mercedes is making into renaming most of its lineup. The model in question has received a camouflaged front fascia and rear end which suggests some cosmetic changes made to its extremities.
Here we are expecting the modified front and rear bumpers, the redesigned front grille, the tweaked headlights and taillights and probably some small modifications made to the front fenders and hood. The cabin of the model should be getting some small touches too, but don’t expect anything drastic here. As far as the engine lineup goes, we should see the MLE 400 get a 3-liter V6 biturbo engine under its hood, along with a new hybrid model and also some updates made to other powertrains. The facelifted MLE should be introduced in 2015.
