Mercedes-Benz pickup truck might be based on the Nissan Navara image

Mercedes-Benz may be using the new generation of the Nissan Navara in order to create its first ever pickup truck.

There is no surprise anymore that Mercedes-Benz is getting ready to create its first pickup truck but it seems that the model in question will be made using the new generation of the Nissan Navara. This may actually become a best-seller considering the fact that the Navara is one of the best pickup trucks on the market and that Mercedes-Benz knows how to make vehicles. The new Mercedes pickup truck will be riding on the same platform as the Navara, probably in the new generation, and, it will be produced at the Nissan plants.

The plans of launching its first ever premium midsize pickup truck have been announced by Mercedes-Benz just a few weeks back. The model in question will be aimed towards markets such as South Africa, Latina America, Australia and even Europe. The vehicle should be introduced by 2020 and it will be getting the company’s typical features in terms of design, comfort and safety. The new generation of the Nissan Navara has been in production since 2014 and it is a mid-size pickup truck, with a front-engine and rear-wheel / four-wheel drive layout, depending on the selected version. The model is using a 2.5 liter diesel engine under its hood, connected to a 6-speed manual or to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The Navara stands at 5,255 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and 1,820 mm tall, with a 3,150 mm long wheelbase.
