Mercedes-Benz sold more vehicles in August than ever before in this month, delivering a total of 91,316 units, up 4.5 percent compared to August 2011.
So far this year, Mercedes-Benz sold 841,567 passenger cars, up 5.4 percent, likewise a new record.
At 911,303 units (+5.1 percent), sales of the Mercedes-Benz Cars division have also reached a new high over the year to date. In August, 97,337 Mercedes-Benz, smart and Maybach brand vehicles were delivered (+4.5%).
“Demand for our products developed very positively in August. Although we are currently going through a phase of several model changes, in the past month we sold more vehicles than ever before in this period,” said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
Mercedes-Benz is expecting further growth from the new A-Class, which will be launched in mid September. The carmaker has already received more than 50,000 orders for the new model since mid June.
Despite declining markets, sales were slightly up in Western Europe, the brand’s No. 1 sales region, particularly in the UK and France. Also, in the U.S. and Germany, Mercedes-Benz is the premium brand with the highest number of new vehicle registrations in 2012.
