Mercedes-Benz reveals the secrets of the new S-Class generation image

Mercedes-Benz has recently released new details on the interior design of the 2014 S-Class.

The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, codenamed the W222, has been designed with rear-seat passengers in mind and this is called the “essence of luxury”, as the company’s bosses are saying. The dashboard of the new S-Class generation is coming with two 12.3-inch TFT screens, with the left one showing the speedo and rev counter dials, while the right one is aimed towards the multimedia, satellite navigation and others. The steering wheel of the 2014 S-Class has a two-spoke design, which Mercedes-Benz says that it will be unique to the S-Class.

Besides the heated steering wheel, which is a “must” in luxury cars, the model will also get an option of heated armrests, so you won’t feel the winter at all in the cabin. And if it dares to step in, the new individual climate control system, named the Thermotronic, which is optimized for polluted Chinese cities, will do its job just like it should and it will also keep various viruses and spores out of the cabin, while freshening the air.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is also getting some plastic, and the only one can be found on the lining of the aperture for the door release, because the carmaker says that all other materials used are either wood, aluminum or leather. The LWB versions of the new S-Class will get the “Executive” option of reclining individual seats in the rear, where the backrest can tilt up to 43.5 degrees and the “Chauffeur” package is allowing the front seat to be pushed forward. The “Executive” package is also getting a “Business” center console which can house two bottles in the central chiller and the cupholders can either chill or heat.

The seatbelt holsters rise electrically when the passengers get in to the aid seatbelt fastening and the rear seatbelts also get integrated airbags. The reclining seats get an airbag under the cushion, which is designed to stop the reclining passenger from sliding out under the seatbelt in case of an accident. The sound system is a top end made by Burmester with 24 speakers and 1,540 watts of power with a new design of bass bin.

The noise transmitted into the cabin is reduced and a main role are playing the model’s front chassis legs, which have been made of extruded aluminum and cast aluminum as mounting points for the front structure on the bulkhead and for the strut mounts. The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is also coming with a built-in atomizer, which can diffuse scents into the cabin. This is a 3,000 GBP option and the carmaker has worked with Marc vom Ende to develop five scents especially for the car. The refills cost 45 pounds and they last approximately 7,000 miles. The interior design of the new S-Class generation has been developed by the company’s design studio in Como, northern Italy.
