The very first drop-top version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is scheduled to hit the market in 2014.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabrio has been kept a secret for the moment by the German based automaker but recently the company has started testing the model and it couldn’t lose the spy photographers. The S-Class Cabrio will be based on the CL replacing next-gen S-Class Coupe and it will enter a new segment for luxury 2+2 soft-tops, a territory currently dominated by Volkswagen’s sub-brand Bentley and its Continental GTC, where the “classic” Mercedes-Benz rivals BMW and Audi have to enter.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabrio will be roomier than the E-Class convertible and it will have a higher quality cabin, in order to appeal to new owners who want to enjoy driving under the sun in a four-seat luxury drop-top. The interior of the luxurious model signed by Mercedes-Benz is expected to be similar to Bentley in terms of quality but it will still keep the “feel” of the regular version of the next-gen S-Class sedan. The engine lineup of the model might be carried over from the regular S-Class but there is no official word on this for the moment. The next generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class will debut next year and the S-Class Cabrio is scheduled to hit the market in 2014.
