The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has released new details on the S500 Plug-in Hybrid as the model in question will become available for order this September.
The brand new Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid will be more fuel efficient and its electric range has increased from 30 km (19 miles) to 33 km (21 miles) and despite this, thumb acceleration times have gone to 5.2 seconds from the previous 5.5 seconds. The car manufacturer is saying that the model in question is averaging just 2.8 liters / 100 km (100.8 mpg UK / 84 mpg US) from the expected 3.0 liter of fuel every 100 km (94.1 mpg UK / 78.4 mpg US).
“Today, the challenges and complexities faced by F1 are quite similar to those faced by us in designing and developing advanced road cars like the S 500 PLUG IN HYBRID: To translate efficiency into superior performance”, said the Mercedes-Benz Cars head, Thomas Weber.
Power to the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid is being provided by the 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 engine, which is backed up by a 107 HP (80 kW) electric motor. The total output produced by the assembly stands at 435 HP (325 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. Just like we said above, the new Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid will go on sale this September. No pricing details have been announced yet.
