The German premium automaker has revealed pricing details for the UK market of the S500 plug-in hybrid model, with deliveries starting late November.
The British customers will exclusively get the S500 plug-in hybrid in the long wheelbase configuration, and because it’s based on the S500L AMG Line it will also feature the AMG front and rear bumpers or the 9-inch AMG alloy wheels. Among the highlights of the model we can also see the LED intelligent light system, COMAND Online, noise insulating glass, leather upholstery and the front seat memory package.
The S500 plug-in hybrid is actually the third hybrid in the S-Class line-up, after the S 300 BlueTEC Hybrid and S 400 Hybrid – but additionally the 8.7 kWh lithium-ion batteries can be charged from external sources.
The powertrain setup features a V6 biturbo petrol engine developing 333 hp and an electric motor that gives an additional 116 hp, for a total output of 442 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The electrical-only range of the car is around 20 miles (32 km).
The main asset of the model is of course its frugal fuel consumption, with Mercedes-Benz claiming the S500 plug-in hybrid can return no less than 100.9 mpg UK (84 mpg US; 2.8 liters/100 km) – which means CO2 emissions of just 65 g/km.
