Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid to be launched in 2014 image

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce the new S500 Plug-in Hybrid sometimes next year and the model is expected to set new standards in the luxury class.

The brand new Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid is getting closer and closer to its future customers, who will have to wait until next year in order to get their hands on the model. The carmaker didn’t go into specifics with the 2014 S500 Plug-in Hybrid but it said that the hybrid system can work with both diesel and petrol four-cylinder engines, as well as with the V6 petrol units.

The brand new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid should feature a six-cylinder petrol engine under its hood, backed up by an electric motor and an 8.7 kWh battery, which should produce approximately 333 HP (245 kW) and 480 Nm of torque (354 lb-ft). The average fuel consumption should stand at just under 4 L / 100 km (70.6 mpg UK / 58.8 mpg US). Additional details on the brand new Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid are limited for the moment and will probably be announced close to its debut.
