The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz is planning to unveil the SL65 AMG at the 2012 New York Auto Show next month.
After the SL550’s starting price was announced, the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is once again placed into the spotlights, but this time it has nothing to do with the manufacturer. Rumors say that the most powerful version of the popular roadster, the SL65 AMG, will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 New York Auto Show, which will open its gates in April.
In a world concerned in fuel efficiency and saving trees, you’d probably think that AMG will give up its large engines and replace the V8 with a turbocharged inline four-cylinder unit, but this is not the case just yet, and you thought you’d seen it all, the most powerful version of the SL-Class is getting ready to hit the dealerships, but not before hitting the over-seas automotive event next month.
There is no official word on the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG yet so we don’t know what engine will the German manufacturer use on it, but the SL63 AMG is coming with a V8 unit, which is coming in two outputs, 537 horsepower and 564 horsepower (with the AMG performance package). The SL63 AMG is expected to be priced at 200,000 euros and deliveries of both versions are scheduled to start in July. More details on the SL65 AMG will be announced at the 2012 New York Auto Show.
